The arts have been a tradition in a family with grandparents as painters and photographers. Clay is my medium of choice to carry on my family legacy. Born in the Rocky Mountains, raised in the Pacific Northwest the fabric of both are used to inspire the rugged textures and fluid forms. As a former professional chef, I transformed my culinary creations into art. After I achieved my goals in this trade, my vocation became ceramics. In 2003, I enrolled in the Ceramic Arts program at Portland Community College. January of 2007, worked under the professional guidance of Jay Stewart of Otter Woods Pottery in Seaside Oregon. I then embarked on a journey across the country to Middlesex, New York to work as a Resident Potter at the Rochester Folk Art Guild. I returned to the Pacific Northwest west and established my own studio in Tacoma, Washington where I work daily.
Beauty, design, and function are considered equally when I create my forms. I carry with me the tools of my trade and family heritage in the daily enlightenment of exploring clay.
